Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster, encourages everyone to pick up a book this summer and Read Back Better from the pandemic.
The Summer Reading Challenge, organised by The Reading Agency, is a great way to encourage children to read and, crucially, have fun.
This year, The Reading Agency have partnered with the Science Museum Group to create ‘Gadgeteers’, inspiring children to use their curiosity and creativity to discover the science behind the everyday, and celebrate the role of the imagination in both reading and the sciences.
Speaking out, Nickie said,
"I've always known how important reading is for young people and when I was Leader of Westminster City Council championed the role that reading plays in our young people's lives. I am proud of how both Westminster's and the City of London's libraries have continued to thrive.
"Whatever you're up to this summer, I encourage everyone to pick up a book and get into reading. It never is too late."
