Nickie Aiken, MP for Cities of London and Westminster, explains that the UK must tell the world that the British way of life is not for sale.
Nickie Aiken has this week made the case for ensuring Russia’s ruling class feel the repercussions of their actions in the long-term.
Her message is clear: to enjoy western lifestyles, Putin's advisers need to respect western values. Commenting further on the issue,
Nickie made clear that the Government
“needs to target the international lifestyles of oligarchs.
“They enjoy the benefits of coming to this country, they have their flats in Knightsbridge, they shop in Harrods and Selfridges, they go to our top restaurants, they send their children to our top schools."
Unlike economic sanctions, this will not harm Russian civilians, many of whom have publicly dissented - even demonstrated - against war in Ukraine.
Whilst the Prime Minister did not agree with Nickie on this occasion, she will continue making the case for Russia’s ruling class to feel the repercussions of their actions.
