Today the body responsible for regulating medical treatments in the UK, the Medicines & Healthcare products Regulatory Agency, known as the MHRA, gave the green light for Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to be rolled out after finding it safe.

The vaccine may begin to be administered within the next week to those deemed to be at the greatest risk from catching the virus or suffering serious complications from it.

The UK has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine from Pfizer, enough to inoculate 20 million people.
