^ Nickie had a tour of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington with Lord Markham, Felicity Buchan MP, and Professor Tim Orchard.
On the week we celebrated the 75th Anniversary of the founding of our NHS, Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, had a tour of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington.
Nickie joined Health Minister, Lord Markham, who is responsible for the Government’s hospital programme, neighbouring MP Felicity Buchan, and Professor Tim Orchard, chief executive of Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
They met a host of staff across a number of departments and discussed the Trust’s innovative ideas to secure a complete redevelopment.
St Mary’s is more than just a hospital; for over 175 years it has been a leading provider of clinical care, education and research. The Government has confirmed funding for the redevelopment of St Mary’s and is committed to starting the enabling works as soon as possible so that St Mary’s continues to serve our local community as London’s major acute hospital for North-West London.
As we mark the NHS' 75th birthday, Nickie commented,
"Thank you to all the staff who make it what it is. From the doctors and nurses, to cleaners and porters, and social care workers, paramedics, physios and everyone who works in the NHS; thank you, and happy birthday NHS."
