MP for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, planted her memorial cross in the Garden of Remembrance in Parliament on behalf of all those across the Two Cities who have served, and also in honour of those who made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives for our freedoms during the First and Second World Wars, but also all conflicts.
Speaking afterwards, Nickie said,
"I've just laid a Memorial Cross in the Speaker of the Commons' Garden of Remembrance here in Parliament. I pay tribute and thank all those from the Cities of London and Westminster who made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives for our freedoms during the First and Second World Wars, but also the conflicts after.
"And I think it's very important that as we remember those who fell, we also remember those who gave service to the capital and to our great nation. In Whitehall, the civil servants who remained here, the people who remained here and lived through the Blitz.
"And I think on a day like this and a weekend during Remembrance that it's so important that we remember all those who played their part to protect our freedoms."
