UK Parliament Week is a celebration of our democracy.
It’s so important everyone understands and knows how our Parliament works, so to mark the week, Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, was delighted to visit several schools to speak with pupils and answer their questions.
Nickie visited St Peter’s Eaton Square Primary School for a school assembly. With children aged 4-11, Nickie spoke more about her role as an MP and how she works tirelessly every day to stand up for local people. There was also a Q&A and Nickie heard more about the issues that matter to them.
Nickie also attended St Vincent's Catholic Primary School and spoke at their school assembly. Nickie then welcomed some very insightful questions from students about her role as an MP, including why she decided to stand for Parliament. The school council then told her about the whole school vote they had organised about whether the students should have homework or not… a contentious subject!
