Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, held a public meeting for people living in Dolphin Square following a number of concerns raised by local people about repairs, safety and management issues.
At the packed meeting, Nickie heard continuous examples of mismanagement, poor security, inferior repairs, and rent hikes for newer tenants. Nickie will be taking the concerns raised directly to the Dolphin Square owners and management as she holds them to account to ensure that tenants have the protections that they need and deserve.
Speaking after the meeting, Nickie commented,
"I've just finished a public meeting with Dolphin Square residents. It was a packed meeting and I was really concerned to hear a whole range of issues brought up. No heating, no hot water, poor maintenance, poor security, and particularly concerned about stories from the newer tenants who are still waiting to hear whether their tenancies are going to be renewed. And when they are, often they are being given a 15% rent hike.
"So I'm going to take all this information that I've been given, I'm going to speak to the management agent and the owners of Dolphin Square. We have to bring this appalling management to an end and ensure that tenants, whether they are long-term or short-term tenants, have the protections that they need and deserve."
