Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, was delighted to join Jane Doyle, Chair of the Safer Neighbourhood Ward Panel, Tim Lord, Chair of the Soho Society, Jason Fisher-Jones, Soho Society member, and Alex Juon of Westminster City Council, on a walkabout in Soho with the Safer Neighbourhoods Team for West End ward.
During their walkabout, Nickie raised with PC Andy de Santis and PS Mark Petit several issues local people and businesses had been in touch with her about including drug dealing and taking, and theft.
Nickie found it a useful discussion which followed her night-time walkabout with the West End Patrol Team in the summer.
One message was clear; the public must report every crime and incident directly to the police. Whilst it may not always result in an immediate police response, it helps build a picture and ensures the police can allocate resources appropriately. They can only do this with reports received by the public. In a non-emergency, for the Metropolitan Police, you can tweet @MetCC on X (formerly Twitter), report online at met.police.uk, or dial 101. For the City of London Police, you can report online at cityoflondon.police.uk or dial 101. In an emergency, always dial 999.
