It has been confirmed that Nickie Aiken MP will be presenting her Private Member’s Bill on the legislation of pedicabs across Greater London to the House of Commons on Tuesday 9th June. Nickie had planned to table her Bill a couple of months ago but was unable to do so after the presentation of Private Members Bill’s was suspended. Parliament did this to focus on Urgent Statements and Questions.
Nickie was finally able to table her bill yesterday to Parliament, moving it one step closer to becoming law.
On the submission of her Bill, Nickie commented, “I am very pleased to have been able to table my Pedicabs Bill yesterday. I was frustrated and disappointed but completely understood why Parliament made the decision to suspend the presentation of Private Member’s Bills. Tabling the Bill means Parliament will now discuss the lack of legislation pedicabs are currently subject to in Greater London and have the opportunity to bring them in line with other private hire vehicles.”
Nickie added, “The Bill is not about completely removing pedicabs from the streets of London but making them a safe and enjoyable experience for all and reducing the disruption that some currently cause.”
Nickie has been asking members of the public to show their support for the Bill. You can do so here.
