Like many people across the Two Cities, Nickie is an animal lover and was delighted to see new legislation announced in the Queen’s Speech to see the government promise that Animal Welfare will have new higher standards set.
With everything from cat microchipping to an improvement in zoo standards being mentioned, Nickie visited the Blue Cross Pet Hospital in Pimlico to hear from those on the front line about the work they do to support pet owners, and what the public can do more to be more responsible.
Nickie said,
On my visit to the Blue Cross Hospital in the heart of my constituency the big issue of pet thefts has come up and there are some tips for pet owners to take into account if they are worried about their pet being stolen.
So, get your cat or your dog micro-chipped and make sure you keep your details on the microchip up-to-date.
If you're taking your dog for a walk, vary the walk so you're not always going on the same walk.
And if you're taking photographs of you and your dog just don't have your car registration included in the photo and make sure that they don't know actually where you are or where you are living.
So a few really good tips from the Blue Cross Hospital and a really great charity to visit today.
