Our MP, Nickie Aiken, brought together representatives from delivery companies Deliveroo, Uber Eats and Getir, as well as cycling charity Bikeability and courier company Pedal Me for their latest discussion on the campaign for a delivery cyclist certificate.
Just Eat is also on board, but unfortunately were unable to attend the latest meeting.
Nickie launched the campaign following hundreds of examples from local people about delivery riders cycling the wrong way up one-way roads, skipping red lights or riding on pavements.
Companies have a responsibility to ensure their riders are safe and we’re making positive progress on this project so that delivery cyclists understand road safety for themselves and for other road users and pedestrians. In their latest meeting, they agreed on our next steps including a module from Bikeability. Nickie looks forward to the next meeting
