Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, has today visited South Westminster’s COVID-19 Vaccine Centre in Vincent Square.
Nickie visited the centre to discuss with NHS staff the progress that is being made across the Two Cities inoculating the most vulnerable from COVID-19.
After visiting the centre Nickie said,
I've just been to the vaccination centre for the south of Westminster, to see how the vaccination programme is being rolled out. It's amazing in there, it's a great atmosphere, and doctors, nurses, and community pharmacists say it's going really well.
Over 80% of the over 80s have now received their vaccination in Westminster. And I'm told that it should be all completed for the over 80s by the end of this week. And calls are now being made for the over 70s to make appointments.
I know in the City that the programme is also rolling out, but that many residents would prefer to have a vaccination centre in the City itself rather than having to travel to Hackney, and I have written to the CCG asking them if that could be possible.
It's so important that we all have our vaccination when we are offered it because then we can all begin to move on from this awful time.
