Over the last year, the Government has taken tough decisions to more than halve inflation and grow the economy.
So, Two Cities MP, Nickie Aiken, welcomes that this month, an exciting package of tax cuts, pay increases and cost of living support comes into effect that will benefit people across the Two Cities.
Following the 2% cut to National Insurance Contributions which came into effect in January, a further cut to the rate of National Insurance has come into effect, now saving the average worker £900.
Older members of our community will also benefit as the state pension rises by £900 a year from this month following the government’s commitment to the triple lock.
The National Living Wage also increases to £11.44, increasing the annual pay of those on the living wage by £1,800, or £150 a month.
Whilst the past few years have been difficult, Nickie welcomes this Conservative Government's action to take the long-term decisions to grow the economy and ensure workers keep more of their hard-earned pay.
