Cities of London & Westminster MP, Nickie Aiken, was delighted to join fellow MPs from across Devon and Cornwall at 10 Downing Street with policy advisors to discuss housing and short-lets.
After the success of our campaign for a national short-term lets register, we discussed its implementation and what it will mean for our neighbourhoods.
Short-term, holiday style, lets allow homeowners to rent a property or room over one or two days. Currently, rules allow homeowners to let their property for up to 90-nights. They can be a great way for tourists to visit our neighbourhoods, but I hear repeatedly from local people about the misery out-of-control rogue short-let landlords cause.
These are not new homes, but homes that would have previously been rented out on long-term leases for professionals and families to call home. So, working with you, Nickie was pleased to lead the successful campaign for a national short-lets register.
