A few words from Cities of London & Westminster MP on this year’s Remembrance Day.
Nickie Aiken MP - This Remembrance Sunday is a very different one for all of us. I was meant to be attending the National Service of Remembrance at Westminster Abbey, but sadly, all services inside have been cancelled, because we have now entered the second lockdown.
But this year of all years where we were marking the 100th anniversary of the laying to rest of the unknown soldier within the Abbey, I think it is so important that we remember those who've made the ultimate sacrifice, served their country, and have died to protect our own freedoms.
And this year as we face a global pandemic, I want to pay tribute to all those who continue to serve in our armed services, but also to remember those who have died from COVID-19, and my thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends at this time.
