Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster Nickie Aiken has today called for those that qualify to get the flu jab this winter to alleviate pressure on the NHS.
From December 1st, the jab became available all adults over the age of 50 on the NHS. Shortly after receiving the jab herself for the first time Nickie said, “This year, more than ever before it’s so important that those that qualify like I do get their flu jab. Due to Coronavirus the NHS is under unprecedented levels of pressure at its busiest time of the year.
By getting the jab, people can help do their bit to prevent the pressure on the NHS rising further. My message to anyone who qualifies for the flu jab this year and is able to receive it – get one.
If you are younger than 50 you may still qualify to receive the jab on the NHS if you fulfil one of the following criteria:
• Have certain health conditions
• Are pregnant
• Are in long-term residential care
• Receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person who may be at risk if you get sick
• Live with someone who is at high risk of coronavirus (on the NHS shielded patient list)
• Are a frontline health or social care worker
Booking the jab is simple. You just need to contact your GP or a local pharmacy. You can find more information about the flu jab, including who should not receive it here.
