Nickie Aiken, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London & Westminster, appeared on LBC over the weekend to talk about the government successfully reaching its target of vaccinating the 15 million people most at risk from COVID-19 by the middle of February.
During the conversation, Nickie was asked about how she felt the vaccine rollout had gone across the Two Cities. In response Nickie said,
It’s been absolutely amazing – I obviously get a lot of emails and letters from constituents concerned about issues and asking for advice, and I have been absolutely so bowled over by the number of emails I’m getting every day from people saying - I’ve had the vaccine, the service was amazing everybody was so friendly – and that’s really heartwarming to hear.
I’ve been to the vaccine centre in Vincent Square in Westminster at the Royal Horticultural Halls, where the local GPs are organizing it, and it’s been so amazing, and they’re doing hundreds and hundreds a day. I also then went to a local pharmacy in the West End last week, John Bell & Croyden which has signed up to be part of the programme as well, and again the facilities they have put in are world-class and they are so delighted to be a part of it.
I think the whole vaccine programme has really seen everybody pull together within the NHS and within the local community and it’s really brilliant to see.
