Nickie Aiken, MP for the Cities of London & Westminster, today highlights the growing dangers of cybercrime and outlines how everyone should report any phishing text messages or emails they receive.
For scams that get sent to your mobile phone number, the texts can be forwarded for free to 7726 and emails can be forwarded to [email protected]
Nickie explains
I've been receiving an awful lot more spam-type emails from fraudsters, basically, who are pretending to be from the Royal Mail, or Amazon, or even HMRC, telling me that there's an issue.
And I need to click on this link and pay some money and they will sort it out.
These are fraud.
And the National Cybersecurity Centre is doing an awful lot of work on this.
And is encouraging anybody who thinks that they've got a dodgy text from somebody trying to get money out of them to forward it to 7726.
If you have an email, along the same lines, you can also send it to [email protected].
This type of fraud, cybercrime, and digital crime, has been growing hugely in this country.
And we must all do our bit to protect ourselves.
