Nickie has been working in partnership with amenity societies, residents’ groups and Westminster City Council to respond to the Government’s consultation on its Planning for the Future White Paper.
Although Nickie welcomes aspects of the planning reform proposals, including greater use of technology, reducing bureaucracy and giving local people an earlier say in what is appropriate where locally. Nickie maintains that local councillors and people should have influence throughout the process, from beginning to end.
Nickie also believes we need more details on the conservation aspect of the reforms which currently seem a little vague. As the White Paper becomes the Bill, Nickie will continue to campaign to ensure the new laws protect local democracy
