Speaking at PMQ's, Nickie said,
"Last week I met with The Reading Agency that is about to launch it's annual Summer Reading Challenge and hopes to reach a million children, primary school children this year. What a great excuse to go to one of our brilliant libraries and take part in the COVID education catch up.
"With this in mind, would my Right Honourable Friend, join me in encouraging every child across the nation to take part in the Summer Reading Challenge, pick up a book and Read Back Better?"
The Prime Minister, Boris Johnson MP replied,
"I thank my Honourable Friend, she's quite right. There couldn't be a better campaign for the summer. We put £1.9 million of support into the reading scheme that she mentions. But of course there's £200 million going into the Holidays Activities Fund, and there couldn't be a better, more useful, happier way of occupying your time on holiday than by reading a good book."
