Nickie Aiken, MP for the Cities of London & Westminster visited St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington to hear the stories of those working on the frontline.
Nickie spoke with Doctors, Nurses and Leadership team at the Hospital, and learnt about their experiences of the pandemic, and what can be done going forward.
One message was clear to Nickie; vaccines are our way out of this pandemic. Nickie is encouraging everyone to get their jab as soon as possible, and to return for your vitally important second dose.
Speaking after the visit, Nickie said,
"I've just been to visit everybody at St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington in the Two Cities. Amazing to meet so many of our brilliant NHS staff whether it was in A&E, or the Trauma Unit, ICU, Geriatrics, they are such an amazing group of people. And I know how much we owe a debt of gratitude to them, now and also throughout the pandemic. It's fascinating to hear that even now COVID patients are coming in every day. They are much younger and those who are in ICU now have not had the vaccination. So my message is, if you haven't had the vaccination yet, please do so. This virus is still with us. We to need support our NHS staff to make sure that they are protecting all of us and helping us all get through this dreadful time."
