MP for the Two Cities, Nickie Aiken, is encouraging all young women to get involved in a STEM subject, following her visit to The St Marylebone CE School.
Nickie found it inspiring to meet the Chair of Governors, Eliza Low, and Business Development Manager, Deborah Loades, at St Marylebone Girls School along with local Councillors Karen Scarborough & Ian Rowley to see how the government’s investment in education is being used to refurbish their Science labs to encourage more girls to take science subjects and create careers in STEM industries.
Women have done incredible work in this field and have made a real difference to people’s lives around the world. We have seen the outstanding achievement that many women have made with finding vaccines against COVID-19, particularly Professor Sarah Gilbert of Oxford University.
Nickie also saw the Government’s Clean Air Fund in action, with funding for new air filtration units creating cleaner air in the classrooms and buildings. Particularly important when the school is so close to Marylebone Road.
