During Baby Loss Awareness Week, MP for the Cities of London & Westminster, Nickie Aiken, spoke in the Commons around the crucial work of midwives, particularly bereavement midwives.
Nickie learnt about the work of Jane Scott and Lauren Petrie, Bereavement Midwives at St Mary's Hospital, Paddington, to change the way the death of a baby is perceived, funded and supported.
Nickie was delighted to return to St Mary's with our Health Minister, Maria Caulfield MP, to meet with Jane and Lauren, and see more of the work from St Mary's Hospital to support those who are suffering baby loss, including bereavement rooms to give privacy away from the rest of the ward.
To all those people going through bereavement of a lost baby at this moment, Nickie says,
"You are not alone."
