Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster, Nickie Aiken, has called in parliament for greater support to protect the hospitality industry during the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak. Nickie called for National Insurance contributions to be suspended to support businesses of all sizes across the industry. The hospitality industry is a major employer in the Cities of London and Westminster.
On the suspension of National Insurance contributions Nickie Aiken commented, “I am very concerned for the hospitality industry at this time. It is a major employer across the Cities of London and Westminster. I welcomed the measures that the government announced to support businesses of all types but recognise that hospitality industry, which has been particularly badly affected, needs additional support. The suspension of National Insurance contributions is one additional measure that could really help the industry at this time, protecting jobs.”
Nickie added, “I am also in contact with leading members of the industry regarding how they can assist the government in responding to the current situation. I am very grateful to those hotels, clubs and bars who have offered their premises to support the government and NHS at this time.”
