The Chancellor has just announced a new Self-Employed Income Support Scheme – helping millions of self-employed workers.
Through the scheme, the Government will pay self-employed people a grant worth 80 per cent of their average monthly profits over the last three years, up to £2,500 a month. It's unlike almost any other country's response at this point. The scheme is one of the most generous in the world for the self-employed in response to Coronavirus.
On the announcement of the scheme, Member of Parliament for the Cities of London and Westminster commented, "The measures that the Chancellor has announced today will help millions of self-employed workers to get through, and emerge on the other side of this crisis. Self-employed workers are crucial to so many sectors of our economy. That's why its vital they are supported them and I welcome the government's efforts to do so."
