Support from your bank and building society
Alongside support from the Government and energy companies, several banks are providing additional support for their customers. Below is a list of banks who have announced new measures designed to help specifically with the energy bill increase and other rises in the cost of living. Banks not on this list will be providing support but may not necessarily have any new initiatives yet.
HSBC
HSBC launched a support hub in May. It aims to help customers by providing tips to help save on costs, and offer help on where to go for additional support for any customers who are struggling with the rise in energy costs. You can access the support hub here.
Nationwide
In August, Nationwide will launch a free telephone hotline for those struggling with the increase in energy bills and other expenses.
Customers will be able to phone trained experts from across the building society’s main branches. The service will be available from 9am-4.30pm weekdays and 9am-12 noon on Saturdays.
NatWest
NatWest have created a hub following the increase in energy bills. You can find online advice and tools such as a spending tracker, budget calculator, and you can book a video call with a senior personal banker to help review your money situation. Find the hub here.
